Renowned Vocal Coach Tania Spence brings her expertise in all things related to vocal practice in this three hour workshop, where she will eplore healthy vocal output and practice for performance.
The masterclass will look at how to best warm up body and voice, vocal registrations and their relevance to different genres of singing, postural elements of singing, breath support and management, voice care and practical singing (meaning bring a song.)
We will also look at text connection and character work within the song. Singers are encouraged to prepare two songs with clearly printed sheet music. Non-singers are asked to prepare two monologues.
ABOUT TANIA SPENCE
After graduating from the Melba Conservatorium of Music in 2007 with a major in classical voice, Tania has become a sought after voice teacher, performance and accent coach and choral director. Tania has trained internationally with Kristen Linklater in Scotland (2016) and at the NYVC in New York (2017) as well as postgraduate studies in actor voice training at the VCA (2013) and NIDA (2012.) Tania has studied America accents with Hollywood Speak in Sydney and has also undertaken Estill Voice Training. She was recently a delegate at the International Congress of Voice Teachers in Stockholm, Sweden and at the Australian Voice Associations ‘Science of the Singing Voice’ in Brisbane. As a performer Tania enjoys cabaret and recital work across many genres and as a Vocal Director she has worked on Sweet Charity, Cats, Les Miserable, My Fair Lady, Miss Saigon, Company, All Shook Up, Evita, Big Fish, Guys and Dolls and most recently Heathers. Tania teaches voice privately and in schools and is at the helm of several secondary school choirs and vocal ensembles, she is an active member of ANATS, NATS, VASTA and the AVA.
